VW Golf, okay, we know… Sure, the VW Golf R, why not… but what about the VW Golf GTi Clubsport? This sportscar in the series can do 0 to 100 in 6.0 seconds!
A customer turned to us for help with his beautiful Volkswagen Golf GTi Clubsport. We did not waste any time and immediately measured the performance of the car. The vehicle was supposed to have a power of 195 kW (265 hp), and when using the BOOST function performance was supposed to temporarily rise to 213 kW (290 hp).We carried out measurements using the MAHA dynamometer and the performance of the vehicle was 203 kW with 392 Nm torque. A nice surprise, since the stated performance was 195 kW and 350 Nm.
The MAHA dynamometer is one of the best devices we could have used and measuring conditions were ideal too. The ambient temperature was 17.5 °C and the operating temperature was 20.6 °C.
The car uses the Siemens Simons 18.1 control unit and its remapping can be done via an onboard diagnostic connector.
Subsequently, authorised Quantum Chip Tuning was performed and software adjusted for the car was loaded into the ECU. This software is adjusted according to the type of HW, SW, and firmware number of the given control unit. Engine map adjustment for automatic transmission is taken for granted.
When everything was done (tuning this control unit took approx. 4 hours), we proceeded with writing the data back to the car ECU.
Though the measuring temperature was still within the norm, it was already 2 °C higher. To check the results, we carried out two additional measurements.
After carrying out our Quantum Chip Tuning, these were the results:
- Performance: 234.8 kW (319 hp)
- Torque: 470 Nm
